New!

Thursday, February 13th, 2003

Hello,
I am a new member. I was diagnosed this morning with seb
derm I also have rosacea pretty bad). The derm perscribed Doxycyline
to replace tetracyline, Plexlon to replace metrogel .75%, and
Nizoral for the hair will replace the tgel I have been using.
Do you all like or dislike these meds?
OK to the point I had a really bad flare up with the rosacea
over the weekend and as it has calmed down I have new patches.
It had been strictly on my cheeks before, but now it is creeping
up the sides of my nose and I have a lovely triangle between
my eyebrows. The derm seemed to think this was kind of weird,
does this happen to anyone else or am I truly a medical freak?
Any feedback is greatly appreciated

Salicylic Acid

Thursday, February 13th, 2003

Has anyone had any success (on scalp or face) with shampoos that
contain salicylic acid? I saw one today at the drugstore called Ionil
or something. It’s made by Galderma. I think it had sulfacetamide in
it as well.

seems to know a lot about seb derm and rosacea. Is anyone
currently using any of her products? If so, what are your thoughts?

New Member-My Story

Tuesday, February 4th, 2003

Hi,
Glad to have found this group as my SD is becoming a real life
alterer.

Anyway, have had this off and on for about five years (I’m 34 now)and
it is now quite chronic. My trouble spots are in eyebrows, in the
ears, and lower forehead.

The worst of this by far has been that my eyebrow hairs have been
falling out for about a year now with practically no regrowth. When
the SD flares up, it gets very bright red and raw–painful to the
touch. The healing process is slow taking about a week with the area
very red and crusty. When the crusts fall off, they usually take the
eyebrow hairs with them.

head and shoulders

Monday, February 3rd, 2003

I tried Head and Shoulders for a short time… how did you notice it helped?
Did you use it just on flaky areas, or inflamed, scaly, tiny pimply areas
also? Did it sting when you applied it, and just help the areas to heal
faster than they would have otherwise? (immediately? 2,3,4 days?)

Is this like your sebderm?

Sunday, February 2nd, 2003

I’m curious. I sebderm another name for eczema? I’ve read a fair amount
about eczema, and always determine it’s not what my symptoms show I have.
My symptoms are limited to my face, and my skin doesn’t really crack, or
itch.
I do however get patchy areas that almost resemble small acne pimples. It’s
not like normal acne that i’ve had: 1) the affected areas are always ‘rashy
patchy areas’, not isolated pimples. 2)It always occurs in the same areas
(above both eyebrows, on sides of face (around the temples), and at times
extends down around the cheekbones.) I also get little dry, brittle areas
around the bridge of my nose, and in the area right around my nostrils.
When I wash these areas, some of the rash is subdued, but my skin stays
scaly and red for a while.

I’m curious because i’d like to try protopic, if my symptoms are like some
of yours.
