Do not take antibiotics
I have not cured my seb derm but I have cleared
my skin totally.I shampoo every day with selsun
and I do not put it on my face.I take 4gms of
pantothenic acid every day.I also take acidipholis
(2 capsules)every day.But the biggest help to my
seb derm and rosacea was my diet. This is a major
sacrifice and lifestyle change but it has helped me
big time.No sugar,dairy,wheat and alcohol.I know that
a lot of people on this board are using antibiotics
to help acne rosacea but it can be very difficult to
treat seb derm while on these drugs.Antibiotics may
be one of the biggest contributary factors to seb derm
and in some cases can cause the condition.

I’ve never heard of anitbiotics causing seb derm. I would be interested to
know more. I recently dropped my dosage of dynacin to 1 pill a day instead
of two. I saw no increase in pimples/pastules. But as winter approaches my
seb derm is getting bad. I have all over flakeyness not the kind you can
spot treat with protopic. I ‘m wondering if any natural supplements help in
aiding seb derm. I’ve heard B5 and B6. I saw someone’s post about B5 and saw
it helped as well as diet change. I thought the B5 was suppose to help the
acne component of rosacea? Can that person send me their thoughts and
exactly what their diet consists of. Thanks
Diane

High dose b5 (3 to 5 grams daily, spread out through out the day)
stops oil production in most people. If oil is a main factor
in sebderm , it makes sense that b5 would help.

Antibiotics kill bad bacteria which is a good thing.
Unfortunately they also kill the good bacteria.Firstly
they kill bacteria in the intestine which is needed to
to produce biotin from the foods we eat.Biotin deficiency
is a factor in seb derm.Antibiotics also kill the good
bacteria on our skin which feed on fungus. There isnt much
point in taking vitamin B6 if you are taking antibiotics
because your intestines will not be able to produce the
biotin. Some people take probiotics while on antibiotics
but I found that this did not help.Foods containing sugar
are the worst things to eat.Fungus thrives on sugar.
Pantothenic acid(B5)is great because it reduces sebum which
P.Ovale(fungus)can thrive on oily skin.It is also important
to note that P.Ovale can also thrive on dry skin feeding on
the flakes and dead skin so it is important not to over dry
your skin with too much B5.I eat potatoes, vegetables, meat,
rice ect.I have totally excluded sugar, dairy, wheat and alcohol
from my diet.A diet like this can mean a real change in lifestyle
but for for those of you who are really interested in controlling
this then this will help.
