New Member-My Story

Hi,
Glad to have found this group as my SD is becoming a real life
alterer.

Anyway, have had this off and on for about five years (I’m 34 now)and
it is now quite chronic. My trouble spots are in eyebrows, in the
ears, and lower forehead.

The worst of this by far has been that my eyebrow hairs have been
falling out for about a year now with practically no regrowth. When
the SD flares up, it gets very bright red and raw–painful to the
touch. The healing process is slow taking about a week with the area
very red and crusty. When the crusts fall off, they usually take the
eyebrow hairs with them.

Needless to say, I am feeling like a freak not really because of the
SD but more so because of the eyebrow fallout–it is very noticeable–
dark eyebrows with random bald spots with red inflamed skin and white
crusts–hard to believe that it has progressed to this point in such
a short period of time.

What has worked for me to a limited degree has been a steroid called
Desowen–it is a light lotion that goes on very easy but is greasy so
I only use at night. When I first started on this a few months ago,
it worked practically overnite but it now seems that the SD has
outwitted the desowen and this treatment is becoming much less
effective and as soon as the areas heal, they seem to flrare right
back up.

I have tried some other more potent steroids like Elocon and yes it
does work, but the stuff is way to strong to use on a regular basis–
it burns a bit going on and you can feel your skin thinning from this
stuff–pulse therapies of this may help but it still is not a long
term solution.

I am going to ask my derm for protopic next week and see if this the
miracle cure but am still anguished over eyebrow loss.

Anyone else experience this?
Thanks,
tztz

Last year I had the crustiness in my eye brows and I used the Protopic there and the area between the eye brows.  It went away and I discontinued the Protopic in that area and I have not had a reoccurrence yet; however, with the colder temps and dry air approaching, I might see a reoccurrence.

My advise is get some Protopic and use it in the eyebrows.  I used it at night before bed.
