head and shoulders
I tried Head and Shoulders for a short time… how did you notice it helped?
Did you use it just on flaky areas, or inflamed, scaly, tiny pimply areas
also? Did it sting when you applied it, and just help the areas to heal
faster than they would have otherwise? (immediately? 2,3,4 days?)

Hi Jon,
I used Head and Shoulders Intensive Treatment. It’s different from
regular H and S because Intensive Treatment contains 1% selenium
sulfide, the same active ingredient as Selsun Blue. Regular H and S
contains zinc. Once every two or three days I would lather up a dime-
sized amount with warm water and wash my entire face with it. Then I
would leave the suds on for 3 to 5 minutes. Then wash it off and go
to bed. That’s all I did.
I don’t really have inflamed pimply areas, my whole face is generally
red and oily. The shampoo helped both symptoms, but became less
effective after 7 months or so.
It didn’t sting when I applied it, but it felt kind of tingly.
I’d say it’s worth a try.

Hi,
I have had seb derm and have had for 6 years, but don’t have rosacea.
When i joined this group a few months ago my skin was in a bad way and
i was pretty desperate for something to help.
I’ve recently (for about 2 months) been using head and shoulders which
contains zinc pyrithone on my hair and face and have seen a vast
improvement in the condition of my face. It did at first make my face
feel like it was going worse as it feels like it’s burning after you
use it and your skin does go red and looks worse, but after about week
using it my skin was so much better (I had the week off work).
I also use boots witchhazel and tea tree oil facial scrub which seems
to calm any redness i have after using h&s.
I don’t know if that will help anyone but just thought i’d say in case
anyone is desperate and needs to try something new.

Yes, bad, long term side effects.
> Like you, i have read many posts about H&S
> however it isn’t sold in Turkey even in Europe.
H&S is just one brand among many, sold in the U.S.,
that contain the active ingredient, pyrithione zinc.
Read the active ingredient in several dandruff shampoos that
are available, and chances are good that some of them will
contain pyrithione zinc, unless your government has
forbidden this ingredient in your country.

Yeah i know what you mean, the head and shoulders i actually wanted
to try was the one with selenium sulphide in, but you can’t buy it
here so i tried just the regular one with zinc pyrithone and it
worked wonders.
I’m in the uk by the way and you can buy regular h&s here, maybe you
could try e bay, i did look at the selenium sulphide h&s and it’s
quite pricy to import, but can’t think of anything else.
Maybe some other group members could suggest something?
Joseph.
