Hi,
Well, I've been using Protopic for the last 5 days. I apply a little
on my face each night before bed. I alternate - one night I'll use
just Protopic and the next I'll use selenium sulfide shampoo, wash
that off, then apply Protopic. What I'm hoping to do is wean myself
off the Protopic and just use the selenium sulfide shampoo. I'm still
hoping that I'm just in a transitional phase and that sooner or later
the selenium sulfide will kick in. So far the results with Protopic
have been good. By the second or third day my face was much less
tight, dry, oily and flaky and quite a bit less red. I still have
some redness in the middle of my face, but the Protopic seemed to
even out my overall facial complexion. I did feel some extra warmth
in my face on a couple of occasions the first two days, but that's
mostly gone now.
So, for the others who have used Protopic, does this sound like your

experience? Some have mentioned that Protopic stopped working for
them after a while. How long did it work for you? Have you thought
about trying Elidel? From what I've read, that one seems to be even
more effective and easier to apply.
Anyway, just wanted to keep everyone up to date. Thanks for all your
posts last week.

hi mate, well as i said mines similar to yours but ive been ripping the
sh#t out of the booze over xmas so not really fair to blame the protpic.
yes , also find that the shinyness does seem to stay around for a long
time after putting it on , like even the next day after you put it on the
night previous. got to get back to drinking loads of water as this helps
majorly but you have to keep it going for a week or two before you start
seeing the results of water. the scalp thing with me changes with the
weather/change between seasons then subsides to good after the temperature
flattens out.erm apart from nizoral i just change around with off the
shelf shampoos that are healthy looking and just mix these up with nizoral
,one day off one day on.

im in hk on my way to sydney so im struggling face wise at the moment. i
dont know about you but when flying my skin goes to pieces literally no
matter what .

speak soon drink water 2/3 litres aday , it works !

Hiya mate, hope things are well.

Yes, Protopic going pretty well thanks. I am trying not to use it every day as
it is so expensive but notice that when I do stop after a couple of days the seb
derm starts to re-appear.

I have also noticed that my face no longer flushes bright red immediately after
alcohol, so I`m pretty happy right now.

One thing I do notice is that as it is so sticky I only apply Protopic at night
and then wash my face with warm water the following day, into the afternoon my
face becomes really greasy, I suppose because it hasn`t fully disappeared..I
have had a few comments like shiny face etc...but that`s cool.

My scalp is really bothersome at the moment though. I have used Nizoral for ages

now and it doesn`t seem to be helping much now, any suggestions..

Hiya mate

Yes still using it to great effect, I only apply it at night as for one it`s bloody expensive and the other is that you look like a real shiny head...kinda sticky..
I wash my face in the morning and after a while find that it still has the Protopic on it as my face is real shiny, small problem if it helps this complaint.

Tried drinking on it again, flares real bad after say one pint, then goes back to semi normal. I have my first christmas party tomorrow so get this, i`m going to have a beer in my car, then hopefully when the burning subsides i`ll be ready to party...otherwise i`ll look like a freak.

Regards

just thought i'd update.still going ok with he protopic fyg ,but as ive
been deprived of a half decent appearance for a few years ive made the
usual mistsake of going out alot(drinking aswell) so not benefiting
fully, but nearly normal still and not complaining, may even have a social
and happy (non paranoid) xmas, you never know, good old protopic...
im going back to the uk in a week or so and wondering how the protopic
will handle the climate change(i live in bahrain), this usually gives my
skin hell for the few weeks im in uk at winter time.

what sort of regime do you have , ie does you wash and clean the areas
with a non sensative soap .or you juast keep applying protopic ontop
daily.as eventhough the cleaning may irritate the areas slightly im
finding that its imperative to do so for longterm improvement and then
reapply as there is no build up of cream on the skin.

also vary your drinks to see what flares and what doesnt , im
experimenting with drinks that say hydrate somewhat at the same time
v/tonic v/fresh orange v/l/soda etc...... keep clear of wines if
possiblea s they are one of the worst.....drink loads of water daily, from
the roscacea III sheet i got a few weeks ago it said s.d and roscaca
sufferes need to drink twice as much as the normal person to chill the
inner parts so overheating and flushing doesnt happen and i takes a while
for this transision to happen (3/4 litres aday in my opinion and avoid
diet soft drinks as they have caffeine etc.

Glad to hear it Dave, hope it keeps up for you.
I tried to have a few on Saturday but again my face started burning so I had to
give up.
I`ve noticed that the area either side of my nose have dramatically improved but
the area between my eyebrows still seems to be sore and red..I wonder how long
this will take to clear? If at all..?
Generally impressed but still a way to go.
