Is this seb derm??

Sunday, January 26th, 2003

Hello group,
Here’s the problem, i have very oily skin and
after i wash my face i see this white crap on my forhead
cheeks and nose. and if i rub those areas that stuff comes
off like eraser fillings, its like i,m rubbing off skin
and within a couple days that stuff builds back up on my face
What the heck can i do to control this?? its soooo very frustrating.
Will washing with h&s a few times a week help?
I know it comes from the oily skin because for a few months
i was taking low dose accutane and that stoped the oil
and that "stuff" cleared up 90%. but i had to stop because
it was effecting my hair(hair loss).
Thanks for any help you guys can give.
Tony.

moisturisers ?

Friday, January 24th, 2003

for me the right moisturiser has always been one of the big problems.
over the years of having s.d with steroid roscacea i feel as though
cream moisturisers never actually sink into my skin and
evaporate, they seem to just clog up my pores and then flake off when
they dry up. im now using oils more than ever (pure vitamen e oil on
all of my face and linda sy oil on affected area to avoid clogging .
over the years ive tried nizoral ,cetaphil, clearasil, even been
prescibed canisten blue years ago as a moisturiser which worked not
to bad to be fair. any suggestions as my s.d is the dry ,flaky kind
and not so oily . i have found epiderm to be quit useful(like
vaseline for babies with cradle cap ) but shiny and is a night time
moisturiser. any input from people appreciated .epiderm is a uk brand
i assume ,in the states maybe called something else.laters……

Protopic Update

Tuesday, January 21st, 2003

I’ve been using Protopic for almost a week now, together with Head &
Shoulders Intensive Treatment, and it really does work. There’s no
flakes at all, where talking 100% flake-free, and 90-95% of the
redness that have been torturing me for a long time, is gone. It’s
amazing, and my self-esteem is back. I use H&S on my hair and face,
and the oily skin I had has also got better. Maybe this is the
ultimate combination that keeps this crap under control? It’s working
for me, and I hope it will continue to do so.

To those of you out there who are suffering from seb derm in the
face, flakes and redness, get Protopic ASAP. There’s no need to
suffer when this wonderful product now is available. If you can’t get
it from your doctor, have a look at usamedicine.com, it may be a bit
expensive, but imagine how a "normal" face could make your life so
much easier and fun!!!

Seb Derm - Oxistat

Tuesday, January 21st, 2003

Has anyone heard of or used oxistat for seb derm or rosacea? My derm
said it’s an anti-fungal like Nizoral, but that people don’t develop
resistance to it as quickly.

Is this Seb Derm?

Thursday, January 16th, 2003

Hello:

I found out about this group from a post on the Rosacea group. I
was looking for a treatment (cure?) for a problem I’ve had for a
few years that seems to be getting worse. I’ve read info about
Rosacea, Seb Derm, and other skin problems, but I don’t seem
to fit any of those descriptions exactly. The closest would be Seb
Derm (I think), but I’d like to have some opinions as to what this
may be. Here it is:

For the last 4 years, I’ve had pink/reddish areas on my face on
both sides of my nose, about 1-inch wide and from about 1/2
inch below the eye all the way down to my chin. My cheeks are
not affected. The skin on the pink area is different from the rest
not only in color, but also the texture is thicker/coarser and very
